As we know you’re always on Twitter,we wanted to share with you some images of our beautiful Haiti to hopefully change your mind on how you feel about us. Far from being a basket case,it’s a hidden jewel.
« Why do we need more Haitians ? » you reportedly said . Well, for starters, 15% of all healthcare workers in New York, your home State, happen to be from that shithole country. Meaning, if you ever end up in a nursing home, chances are that some of our people will be taking care of you down the road.
Moreover, Haitian-Americans have become ,over time, influential in all spheres of American society as politicians, teachers, doctors, lawyers, journalists, social workers, police officers, TV anchors, producers and Reality TV stars like you, rappers, priests and pastors, mayors, judges, factory workers, movie stars in Hollywood and socialites, major traders on Wall Street,Union leaders, cab drivers, nurses and CNA’s,executives and CEO’s of major US companies, artists, seasonal agricultural workers, scientists at NASA,famous players in boxing, tennis, the NFL,the MLS and the NBA etc…
Most Americans, perhaps including you Mister President, are probably unaware that Haitian soldiers fought and died in Savannah,Georgia, under French General Lafayette during the American revolution, thus contributing to the independence of this nation we now know as the United States.
In the armed forces, thousands of our Haitian-American kids are selflessly laying down their lives in defense of the American dream that you are seeking to take away from their parents and their compatriots…Most Haitian-Americans work two jobs to support their families, go to church on Sundays, pay their taxes dutifully, obey the law and still believe that America is the land of the free and the home of the brave like your German immigrant ancestors did when they settled here.
Haitian-Americans welcomed you in Miami’s Little Haiti back in 2016,during your campaign. Some say our people may have tipped Florida over to you since you carried that crucial swing State by about 120,000 votes, which mirror the 150,000 eligible Haitian-American voters in the State, or so it seems…You promised to be our champion once you got to the White House and our people naively cheered and egged you on. Like Bob Dylan sang in « Positively 4th Street », we wish for just one time you could stand inside our shoes…
Here is The Real Haiti that you never see on TV,except when fair minded Americans like Anderson Cooper,Marshawn Lynch, Anthony Bourdain, Conan O’Brien, Lil’ Wayne,Kim Kardashian, Sean Penn, Oprah Winfrey, Dwyane Wade,Alonzo Mourning,Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt, and many others, make the trip to the island and discover that while we do face many challenges, everything is not 100% terrible and wretched over there as the dominant western press makes it out to be.
